fnc2003
file name changer, 2003 release

fnc is a quick and easy way for renaming files. i often use it for keeping order in ie favourites or renaming large groups of files: for instance, i always use it for renaming the images from the camera with their date.

please note: fnc2003 is almost a beta version. i put it on the site as i'm using it and find it handy. but it's not a final release.
please consider that renaming system and program files can lead to pc malfunctioning and/or irreversible crash, and that fnc2003 will do little or no checks about the files you're renaming.
if you use fnc2003, use it taking lot of care...
hint: before using fnc2003, copy some files to a temp folder and begin to play with the program.

file list
clicking on the header, files can be sorted as usual on name, extension, size, date.
checking the boxes you can select files to operate with. for quicker selection, use the all/inverse/none buttons.

system options
- shr: shows system, hidden and read-only files.
- exec: double-clicking on a file in the list will launch its predefined application.
- extension: keeps the extension while renaming files.
- recycle bin: deletes to recycle bin. please note: deleting files on network and mapped drives cannot be undone. if you're deleting network files, they're gonna be lost.
- clear: clear options after each renaming. safer...
- view: view files content (sofar, text oly). preview must be unchecked.
- preview: shows in the lower-right corner box how the renaming will work. note: counter digits may vary in the actual renaming.
- check win dir: should prevent renaming files in the windows or winnt folders and their subdirectories.
- paste: if any text is selected in the single rename textbox, it'll be pasted in the multiple rename txtboxes. can be quicker.
- list width: autosizes the columns width in the file list while resizing the window.

multiple rename
- file date: each selected file will get named after its timestamp.
- change: files will be named with a text plus a counter. minimum counter digits depends the number of files in a directory: if there's 999 file, 3 digits are required, if 99, two digits are required...
- today: like change, but today's date is
- add: insert text before the current filenames.
- cut: cut text before the current filenames
- replace: replace text strings within selected filenames.

letters case
- lower: like this.
- upper: LIKE THIS.
- proper: Like This.

single rename
easier than in explorer. press enter or the rename button after changing the name.
uncheck the 'confirm' for quicker operation.
if 'extension' is checked in system options, the old extension will be kept anyway, so if you need to change it unchek the option.
